Barns Green approved
In conjunction with the provision of a new school for the village, a residential development of 69 homes in Barns Green, West Sussex was recommended for approval by Horsham District Council subject to legal agreements. The application followed intensive consultation by Berkeley with the local community which identified the need for a replacement school.
In addition to a thatched house, the main village frontage will also feature a traditional Wealden farmhouse building with jettied timber framed first floor and large hipped roof rising up to a central chimney stack. The development will create an interesting roof silhouette with varying eaves and ridge heights together with gaps between buildings. Many of the houses will have square bay windows and some will have first floor balconies above. Decorative and ornate porches will be a feature of the development, creating a good first impression and providing interest to the street scene.
